1. Drop the belly-pan and remove EXUP cover plate (where the two cables disappear under, by the EXUP valve section). 2. Remove the bolt holding down the rear of the fuel tank and slacken off the bolt at the front. Raise and preferably prop tank with wood. 3. Take a twist drill that fits snugly in the hole behind the now-visible EXUP valve cable pulley, and lock the pulley in place with the back end of the twist drill. There is a slotted protrusion from the cable pulley-wheel to allow it to be locked in this way. 4. Under the tank, tighten the cable adjusters so as to remove the slack in both cables. 5. Remove the twist drill from locking the pulley wheel, and turn ignition on ensuring that the pulley does not move and settle in a different position. Repeat cable adjustment if necessary to ensure that the pulley settles in the same position as when the twist drill was inserted. 6. Apply coppa-slip grease around the cables and pulley wheel and to the threads of the bolts holding the cover-plate, replace plate, tighten down tank, job done! Note: If you find that with the ignition on that the Rev-counter indicates 7000 RPM repeatedly, cycling between 7k and 0 RPM, you have over-tightened the cables. Comprehensive instructions on Thunderacers website http://www.thunderacers.com Good luck! Time for some thunderace educating here....As a self proclaimed expert on the YZF-1000 :-) ....I find that your 1 down, 2 up sprocket choice is not a good idea. My recommendation for you is a 17 front with a 48 rear using a DID 530VM X-ring chain. It will provide optimal acceleration as well as good chain wear. Well said! More sprocket teeth = less chain wear.
